Had my last Tilley (hemp T5) for at least 15 years,after traveling everywhere from desert,jungle,beach,sea adventures,squashed into rucksacks etc,it finely wore through.
Tilley came true with there lifetime guarantee and replaced it with a T3,as the last hat,well made with quality materials and looks like this one will stand upto the same abuse.

I bought my hat around 18 years ago. This hat has been a loyal companion on my holidays and in my garden. It has a life time guarantee and an amusing story about an elephant eating a keepers hat and it came out the other end in one piece. This is why I hate it. It's so bloody tough I can't break it or wear it out. My hat is now a little on the old and tattered side now but still all fully intact and perfect. I cant get a replacement as it's not broken, and as I'm now in my 40s and bought it in my 20s I get the feeling this bloody hat will outlive me. With no justifiable reason to spend on another or get a free replacement I shall just have to continue to enjoy wearing it and pass it down to my son. Maybe one day I will give up and buy a new one.
This is my second Tilley hat and there are none better. The design and craftsmanship are both awesome!
I bought a T3 in 2008. I’ve worn it hiking, paddling, gardening or just to keep the sun off me. It went to Africa twice. The edges are fraying, it is permanently stained with sweat and a hole developed on the forehead where the fabric creased and rubbed. So, I bought another in 2021, reasoning that the old one just looked too tattered. The upshot: the 2021 hat is like new. I rarely wear it because I’m worried about staining it, or crushing it in a pack and ruining the shape. And it doesn’t fit like the old one. It sits above my head instead of wrapping over my skull like a comforting hand. Somehow I just can’t quit that old hat. So buy one of these hats, and start building your memories!
